Open the racket finderWho is this list for?
This list is for players just starting padel, rather than those already choosing equipment for an established attacking or defensive style. The finder profile allows all playing styles and has no budget limit.
It is not a cheapest-first selection. For a cost-led shortlist, use the cheap padel rackets page; current shop prices and dates appear alongside the rackets here.
Which beginner specs matter?
HEAD recommends round padel rackets for beginners because their sweet spot, the optimal hitting area, is larger and central. HEAD also says a balance towards the handle gives more control. Balance is measured from the handle end to the point where the racket balances.
HEAD says beginners and intermediate players usually prefer 340–360 g. In the catalogue dated 15 October 2026, the median among complete adult entries was 365 g, so a shop’s beginner label does not necessarily mean a lighter racket.
- Catalogue balance points range from 235–275 mm; the lower third ends at 260 mm. The weight and balance guide explains these measurements.
- HEAD describes fibreglass faces as more flexible and softer than carbon faces. Tennis-Point and Padel-Point rate 70 catalogue cores soft, 69 medium and 63 hard.
- EVA is a rubber-like foam, not a hardness rating. Stock Padel says EVA comes in soft, medium and hard densities.
How is the list calculated?
The list uses the racket finder score for level 0, just starting, with all styles and no budget limit. From the catalogue dated 15 October 2026, the profile has a pool of 193 rackets, all 193 marked as fitting; the list shows the top 10 by score.
Equal scores represent equal finder fit; no separate tie-break rule is specified. Across the catalogue, 202 adult rackets have shape, weight and balance recorded, while 257 lack at least one of those fields in every source and are excluded. We compare published specifications, not on-court performance.
Which models are listed?
These examples follow their order in the list. All specifications and level ratings below come from Tennis-Point.
The examples include hard and soft cores, despite sharing the Beginners rating. That rating should therefore be read alongside the makeup, not as a substitute for it.
- Enebe Full Tubular Carbon: hybrid shape, between round and diamond; 365 g; 265 mm balance; fibreglass face; HR3 EVA core, rated hard. Tennis-Point rates it Beginners.
- Black Crown Snake: round shape; 362 g; 265 mm balance; 3K carbon face, meaning 3,000 filaments per carbon strand; EVA Control core, rated soft. Tennis-Point rates it Beginners.
- HEAD Speed 2025: teardrop shape, described by HEAD as mixing power and control; 350 g; 270 mm balance; fibreglass face; Soft Foam core, rated soft. Tennis-Point rates it Beginners.
- StarVie Australis Light: round shape; 365 g; 265 mm balance; fibreglass face; EVA core, rated medium. Tennis-Point rates it Beginners.
Questions
What shape should a beginner padel racket be?
HEAD recommends round rackets for beginners. Its guide says they have a larger sweet spot in the centre than diamond or teardrop shapes.
What weight should a beginner choose?
HEAD gives 340–360 g as the range beginners and intermediate players usually prefer. It says heavier rackets add power and stability but are harder to handle.
Does a beginner racket need a soft core?
Playtomic recommends soft rackets for beginners seeking comfort or a defensive style. However, Tennis-Point rates some listed beginner models hard, including the Enebe Full Tubular Carbon.
