What the series share
All Viper versions use carbon faces or carbon weaves as their primary hitting surface; Tennis-Point lists 3K and 12K carbon across the range. Most cores are EVA variants (EVA X or EVA Black) and are rated hard by the shop, with one shop rating the Tech Viper Soft’s core medium (Tennis-Point).
Weight and balance sit in a narrow band. Models are between 355 g and 370 g, and eight versions share a 270 mm balance point—Tennis-Point places that in the catalogue’s upper third (head-heavy). The Air Viper is lighter at 355 g with a 265 mm balance (middle third).
- Faces: 3K or 12K carbon listed by Tennis-Point.
- Cores: EVA variants (EVA X, EVA Black); mostly rated hard by Tennis-Point.
- Balance: predominantly 270 mm (upper third); Air Viper 265 mm (middle third).
How the versions differ
The series contains nine 2026 versions in the catalogue, with model names sometimes carrying the year and sometimes not; shops put the year in product names but four of nine versions lack a year in their name (catalogue). Shapes split between diamond, teardrop and one hybrid, which changes handling and sweetspot position according to HEAD’s shape guide.
Power and control are grouped by model. The diamond Juan Lebrón and JL FW models, plus the Technical Viper and several J. Lebrón variants, are 370 g with a 270 mm balance and are marketed as Power or Tournament by Tennis-Point. The Air Viper is lighter and listed as Allround and Advanced. The Tech Viper Soft is a 365 g diamond with 12K carbon and an Advanced/Power tag (Tennis-Point).
- Tournament/power cluster (370 g, 270 mm): Babolat Technical Viper 2026, Viper JL FW 2026, Viper Juan Lebrón 3.0, Juan Lebrón 3.1 (Tennis-Point).
- Advanced/power (365 g, 270 mm, 12K face, 38 mm profile): Babolat Tech Viper Soft 2026 (Tennis-Point).
- Advanced/allround (lighter): Babolat Air Viper 2026 — 355 g, 265 mm, 12K carbon (Tennis-Point).
Which version to pick
Use the shop ratings to match models to your level. Tennis-Point lists five Viper models as Tournament (aimed at advanced attackers) and four as Advanced; the Tournament-labelled models are the heavier, head-heavy power rackets. HEAD and Playtomic explain that diamond shapes and high balance favour power, while teardrop gives a middle ground and round gives control (HEAD, Playtomic).
If you want a quick selection, try the racket finder for weight and balance preferences or compare to view specs side by side. For shape guidance see HEAD’s shape notes or read about teardrop and diamond forms on the site’s pages.
- Choose Tournament-rated, 370 g/270 mm models for power and stability (Tennis-Point).
- Pick Advanced-rated, lighter Air Viper for more manoeuvrability and an allround game (Tennis-Point).
- Use the racket finder or the compare tool to match models by weight, balance and face.
Questions
What shapes do Babolat Viper rackets come in?
Shops list diamond, teardrop and one hybrid shape in the Viper line. HEAD explains diamond shapes bias power with a smaller sweetspot, teardrop gives a balance of power and control, and round gives the largest sweetspot (HEAD).
How do I tell the model year on a Viper racket?
Shops generally include the model year in the product name (for example Babolat Counter Viper 2026). The catalogue notes that four of the nine versions do not carry a year in their name, so check the product title carefully (catalogue).
Are Viper rackets hard or soft in the core?
Tennis-Point rates most Viper cores as hard (EVA X, EVA Black), with the Tech Viper Soft listed as having a medium core. Shop level ratings and the listed core name are the source for each model’s hardness (Tennis-Point).
