How do junior rackets differ?

HEAD describes its Monster model as shorter, weighing 300 g with a 33 mm profile, meaning its thickness. Its older junior models have a 38 mm profile and weigh 330 g in the guide, while remaining slightly shorter than adult rackets.

Decathlon recommends a round racket for children, prioritising control of direction. Materials alone do not define a junior racket: Playtomic lists carbon, fibreglass and EVA or foam cores as common racket materials, describing fibreglass as more flexible.

Balance point is the distance from the handle end to where the racket balances. Playtomic associates lower balance with control and higher balance with power; the weight and balance guide explains these separate measurements.

Which size suits each age?

Decathlon assigns the PR 100 Light to beginners aged 5 to 8, the PR 190 Light to ages 8 to 11, and the PR 560 Light to children aged 12 and over. HEAD instead divides its range into Monster for under 10 and Junior for over 10, so the brands' age bands differ.

HEAD says children may be ready for an adult racket at 12 or 13, recommending a light transition model such as the 340 g Zephyr UL. These guides use age bands rather than a height-based sizing rule, and Decathlon still offers a junior option from age 12.

The HEAD guide gives 330 g for Speed Jr and Extreme Jr, but Tennis-Point lists the HEAD Speed Junior below at 320 g. Keep the guide's range-level advice separate from the individual shop specification.

Which junior models are listed?

On 15 October 2026, the catalogue held 28 junior models, with 15 priced for the UK market. The page includes junior and kids rackets with a UK price, ordered by ascending price, not by a performance judgement.

Questions

At what age can children start padel?

HEAD says children could begin making their first strokes from age three. Its range guidance then separates Monster models for under 10 from Junior models for over 10.

Can adults use junior padel rackets?

HEAD advises adults not to use junior rackets because they are designed for children. It points adults towards its adult range, which includes lightweight frames.
