What does the teardrop shape do?

Playtomic describes teardrop rackets as having a medium-sized sweet spot, slightly higher than on round rackets but lower than on diamond models. The sweet spot is the hitting area that HEAD says gives maximum performance. Both guides describe teardrop as a blend of power and control.

HEAD says teardrop rackets tend to have medium balance, with weight distributed between head and handle. Who suits a teardrop racket?

HEAD recommends considering teardrop if you have been playing for a while and want a balanced game. Playtomic points intermediate and advanced players towards it for a mix of power and control. These are guide recommendations, not a level rating shared by every teardrop model.

For beginners or players prioritising control, HEAD recommends round padel rackets, with a larger sweet spot in the centre. Its guide associates diamond padel rackets with a smaller sweet spot near the tip and more advanced attacking play. Teardrop sits between those descriptions, but the individual model’s balance and construction still need checking.
